SAFed EXAMINATIONS & CERTIFICATION
With effect from 8th March 2006, SAFed (Safety Assessment Federation) LG1 Guidelines have been superseded by a new document, titled 'Guidelines on the supplementary tests of in-service lifts.' The new guidelines involve a 'competent person' carrying out 'functional tests' as part of their 'thorough examination' and possibly recommending 'supplementary tests' to be carried out by a third party. What this means in effect, is that the Annual, 5 Year and 10 Year LG1 examinations are no longer required and it is up to the 'competent person' to decide what tests should be carried out. The 'competent person' should be independent of your lift contractor, such as your Insurance Inspector. Please contact us for further information.
